E. Levi- Catellani (1856-1890) studierte Rechtswissenschaft in Padua und wurde dort 1885 Extraordinarius und war ab 1890 ordentlicher Professor für Internationales Privatrecht an der Universität Padua und Mitglied der dortigen königlichen Akademie. Das Werk ist ein bedeutender italienischer Beitrag zur Entwicklung des IPR und wurde sehr geschätzt durch seine umfangreiche Übersicht der Geschichte des Internationalen Privatrecht. E. Levi-Catellani, Italian lawyer, was born at Padua, educated at the university there. In 1885 he was appointed assistant professor, and in 1890 professor of international alw at Padua. Levi-Catellani was a corresponding member of the Padua Regia Accademia di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, and of the Regio Istituto Veneto die Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and a member of the Association for the Reform and Codification of International Law, at London. His work of International Private Law was an important italian comtribution for the development of the Conflict of Laws. Vewry good was the historical part of his work.
